At worst it's like the series' novels have been ghost written by multiple people who didn't fact check and at best it displays terrible editing.In Love Letters, a big deal is made of the fact that Jo Marie discovers through some of her inquiries to the townspeople that Mark may have served in the military. She is very surprised by the notion and when she questions him he warns her off. Yet in their first meeting in the first book when she asks about his previous work experience, he says he's retired. She asks from what, and he tells her from the military. And she thanks him for his service! To forget that interaction entirely makes me question Macomber's ability to plot out a multi-book series and/or employ proper editors.There were other less significant inconsistencies that stood out to me and hampered my ability to remain present in what I was reading. For example, in the third book Jo Marie learns about Grace's dog Buttercup for the first time despite the fact that she brings him up and tells the reader about him in the second book when discussing alternate names for Rover.It's just sloppy writing and editing. If this book was less expensive and/or from a new author I'd not complain but this is unacceptable from a writer of Macomber's caliber, expertise, and renown. It's really turning me off from wanting to read anything else by her - which is a shame because I was hoping to be hooked on her books. Instead I am just disappointed.5 of 5 people found the following review helpful.I loved the stories but was left hanging when book ended suddenly.By RomanceloverLove letters was another of Debbie's interesting stories set in the magical place of Cedar Cove and involving characters connected in some way to the Rose Harbor Inn, a bed and breakfastoperated by a young war widow who seems to be falling in love with Mark, her handyman, whom no one seems to know much about other then he does good work and his fees are reasonable. Other characters in the book are guests staying at the inn and their stories. We meet Ellie in this book, who is going to meet Tom at the Inn after months of connecting on Facebook and writing to one another. Also we meet Maggie and Roy Porter, who have come to the Inn to work on their marriage after Roy had an emotional affair and Maggie a one night stand.I loved this book and this series. Most people think that most of Debbie Macomber's books are predictable but as for me I enjoy her stories and they end up giving me a warm feeling. Sit back with a cup of Tea or coffee and enjoy this wonderful novel.I know why I've learned to enjoy reading so much over the years and one is Debbie Macomber. It's an enjoyable read, and I know it's one I'll be reading whatever she has coming up next.See all 1337 customer reviews...
